On models like the RC120, stylus pressure is adjusted by turning the knurled screw at the rear of the pickup arm. Turn clockwise to reduce pressure and counter-clockwise to increase it. Doing this ensures the stylus tracks the record groove correctly without causing damage.
Speed variation is often caused by warped records or oil contamination on driving surfaces. Check the motor pulley, intermediate wheel, and the inside of the turntable rim for oil or grease; wipe these surfaces clean with a cloth if necessary.
To operate automatically: 1) Release the pickup arm clip. 2) Set the speed and stylus. 3) Place records on the spindle and swing the overarm inward. 4) Move the control knob to 'Auto' or 'Start'. The arm will automatically position itself and play through the stack.
If the pickup arm does not land correctly on the record, look for an adjusting screw (often accessible through a hole in the unit plate or near the pickup arm base). On the RC70 and similar models, this screw adjusts the dropping position radius for 10-inch and 12-inch records.
