1. Ensure your sewing machine is turned off and the needle is in the up position.
2. Remove the existing presser foot by lifting the presser foot lever and pressing the release button (if applicable).
3. Align the SINGER Cording Presser Foot with the presser foot holder. Lower the presser foot lever to snap the foot into place.

Inserting Cords for Embellishment:

1. Select up to three lightweight cords, thin braids, embroidery floss, or yarn that can move freely through the foot's grooves.
2. Gently slip each cord into the desired grooves on the top of the cording foot from the side.
3. Secure the cords at the back of the foot by tying a small knot to prevent them from pulling out during stitching.

This technique allows you to attach cords to fabric using decorative stitches, creating unique textures and designs.

1. Prepare your fabric and insert the cords into the cording foot as described in the Setup section.
2. Select a decorative stitch on your sewing machine. Ensure the stitch width is set wide enough to cover the entire width of the cords you are using.
3. Place the fabric under the presser foot, ensuring the cords are positioned correctly within the grooves.
4. Begin sewing slowly, guiding the fabric and cords. The machine's needle will stitch over the cords, securing them to the fabric surface. Ensure the needle does not stitch directly into the cords, but rather over them.
5. Experiment with different decorative stitches and thread colors to achieve various effects.

4.2. Gathering Fabric

The cording foot can also be utilized for gathering fabric, creating ruffles or fullness.

1. Insert a single strand of heavyweight thread or thin cord into one of the grooves of the cording foot.
2. Secure the cord at the back of the presser foot by tying a knot.
3. Select a narrow zigzag stitch on your machine.
4. Place the fabric under the presser foot, ensuring the zigzag stitch sews over the cord but not into it.
5. After stitching, pull the cord to gather the fabric to your desired fullness. Secure the end of the cord with a knot to maintain the gathers.
